Synopsis: Leeds City Council (06/02/2018)

Leeds is a city in West Yorkshire, England. Historically in Yorkshire's West Riding, Leeds can be traced to the 5th century name for a wooded area of the Kingdom of Elmet. The name has been applied to many administrative entities over the centuries. It changed from being the name of a small manorial borough in the 13th century, through several incarnations, to being the name attached to the present metropolitan borough. In the 17th and 18th centuries Leeds became a major centre for the production and trading of wool.

As part of many aspects of the film festival, both international and young peoples, we have in turn worked alongside of the Leeds City Council. Working in the famous town hall, we assisted with the running of various projects ranging from workshops to event groups. We also created a short film with the blessing of the Leeds City Council, using the Town Hall’s Victorian cells as a setting. The short was later entered into the Film Festival awards and was nominated in the final’s which was aired to a live audience.
